Getting Gyromag Systems in Warframe is a real catch-22 situation; you can purchase them for 1,000 Vox Solaris standing from Little Duck, but you need to be at the rank of Hand with the Vox Solaris syndicate to be able to make such purchase; to level up to the rank of Agent (which precedes the rank of Hand) with Vox Solaris, you need 15 Gyromag Systems along with 10 Vega Toroids and some other items as a sacrifice. Many Warframe players have been stuck in this kind of situation where you need Gyromag Systems to upgrade to a rank where you’re allowed to purchase these same Gyromag Systems; if you find yourself in this kind of situation, this article provides everything you need to know to get Gyromag Systems in Warframe.

Now before continuing, there’s one thing you must take note about Gyromag Systems in Warframe: getting them is hard, for most players. The difficulty is not actually in acquiring the item, but in the requirements for upgrading to the ranks in which getting the item is possible. It’s the consequence of a terrible design choice of the Vox Solaris Syndicate system on the part of the game’s designers, but until a patch is released to fix that, you can make do with the techniques outlined below.

The Different Ways to get Gyromag Systems

Let’s take a look at all the available ways to get Gyromag Systems in Warframe, even if they’re all not feasible. These are listed below in increasing order of difficulty:

  • The easiest way to get Gyromag Systems is by purchasing them from Little Duck for 1,000 Vox Solaris standing. As mentioned earlier, you, however, need to get to the rank of Hand for that to be possible, and you need to sacrifice 15 Gyromag Systems to get to the rank preceding that (Agent rank). Hence, this option is ruled out for most players since you most probably don’t have any Gyromag Systems to sacrifice if you’re reading this article.
  • Another way to gather Gyromag Systems is by acquiring them as rewards from Heist Bounties offered by Vox Solaris. There’s another catch here; Heist Bounties are available only after you’ve reached Old Mate rank with Solaris United.
  • Now, Old Mate is the highest rank at Solaris United. Hence, this is where you should start from if you’re looking to get Gyromag Systems; level up to Old Mate with Solaris United. Then as Heist Bounties become available to you, it’s time to start participating in them to stand a chance of getting Gyromag Systems.

From the above progression, here is a summary of the steps you’d need to obtain Gyromag Systems in Warframe (in its current state):

  • Reach Old Mate rank with Solaris United. Heist Bounties become available.
  • The only Heist Bounty which offers Gyromag Systems as one of its rewards is the Profit-Taker Orb Heist. Hence, the next step is to participate in the Profit-Taker Orb Heist and acquire Gyromag Systems from the rewards drop at the end of the bounties. There are techniques to this.

Performing Profit-Taker Orb Heists

The Profit-Taker Orb Heist consists of four different bounty phases, and there are several rewards at the end of each phase with different drop chances, according to the game’s RNG. Important to us here is that Gyromag Systems, alongside Repeller Systems and Atmo Systems, are available as rewards for all four phases. Gyromag Systems have a drop chance of 25% in the first three phases, and 28.57% in Phase 4.

If you’re familiar with games like Warframe with reward systems influenced by a Random Number Generator (RNG) system, then you’d know you have to farm these bounty phases to acquire all the Gyromag Systems you need. The trick is in finding an efficient way to reduce the time spent farming while acquiring all necessary items from the reward drops at the end of the phases.

Now here’s the technique to it. The drop chances are similar across Phase 1-3, and there’s just a very slight increase in Phase 4. Hence, the wise thing to do would be to farm the phase with the shortest duration, which is Phase 2. Phase 2 lasts for between 3-5 minutes, so it’s best to focus on this bounty since you’re going to be doing a lot of farming to acquire enough Gyromag Systems.

Profit-Taker Phase 2 Heists – The Efficient Technique for getting Gyromag Systems

As mentioned above, Phase 2 is the fastest of all four Profit-Taker bounty heists, but you need to complete Phase 1 at least once before you can perform Phase 2. To do Phase 1, simply visit Fortuna, then use Fast Travel in the game’s menu (Main Menu » Fast Travel » Little Duck) to get to the backroom inside Fortuna. Once in, talk to Eudico at the briefing table and accept the Phase 1 heist.

After completing Phase 1, you don’t need to get back inside Fortuna to proceed to Phase 2; simply talk to Little Duck outside the elevator at Fortuna in the Orb Vallis to commence Phase 2. Here is a summary of the steps you can take to quickly complete Phase 2 heists:

  • After talking to Eudico and accepting the bounty, enter the Orb Vallis and start moving towards the Enrichment Labs.
  • Once inside the Enrichment Labs building, head to the backroom at the far end of the building. If you’re confused about which of the rooms you’re heading to, here’s a hint: the room should be the same one you encountered during the Spy bounty mission.
  • Inside this room, you’ll encounter three directors: the Armaments Director, Vivisect Director, and the Sentient Research Director. These Directors are spawned at different intervals in succession with the first being the Armaments Director, and you must be swift to kill each one before the next one is spawned, or you’re going to have a tough fight on your hands. This might not be easy at first, but as you replay Phase 2 over and over again, you’ll learn the exact spots on which the Directors are spawned and be ready for them.
  • After killing the three Directors, exit the Enrichment Labs from the rear and you’ll be met with two Terra Ambulas guarding a data vault. The datamass contained inside the vault is what you need to complete the Phase 2 heist, so proceed to eliminate the Ambulas.
  • Once the Ambulas are out of the way, grab the datamass and head back to Fortuna to close out the heist.
  • Depending on how fast you blaze through the entire phase, there might still be ongoing dialogue by the time you finish the heist. Since you can’t start a new heist while dialogue from a previous one is still on, you can cancel the ongoing dialogue by talking to Eudico at the entrance of Orb Vallis.

It becomes a matter of repeating the above steps every time you farm the Profit-Taker Phase 2 bounty, and you’ll soon enough get used to the entire process and speed through the heists. Note that you’d need a weapon that deals heavy damage to take out the Ambulas, and generally, a well-stocked and modded Warframe would make the heists a lot easier.

Conclusion

The truth is, farming is not a palatable way of gathering resources in video games, and in this case, you might need to farm for hours on end before you can gather the 15 Gyromag Systems needed to upgrade to Agent rank in Vox Solaris. However, it’s currently the only way of getting Gyromag systems in Warframe, so brace up for farming if you absolutely need this item. One thing I’d advise is that you shouldn’t focus on just one mission or section of Warframe, in order to avoid burnout due to excessive farming.

The Gyromag Systems component was introduced to Warframe in Update 24.2, and the ability to purchase it with 1000 Vox Solaris Standing was added in Hotfix 24.2.9. Apparently, another update would be needed to either make it purchasable in lower Vox Solaris ranks or increase its drop chances in Profit-Taker heists. Apart from levelling up in the Vox Solaris syndicate, Gyromag Systems are also useful for manufacturing the Gravimag update.
